Events with a purpose…
On 15th July 2010 120 cyclists along with support staff from Selkirk Scout Group set off for North Uist on an amazing adventure full of memories, laughter and aching muscles!Over 4 days the cyclists covered North Uist, Bernaray, Grimsay, Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay and Barra. Support staff transported the tents and provided breakfast, lunch and evening meals for the hungry cyclists. AE Stewart & Son provided a lorry for transporting bikes on ferries with assistance from Caledonian MacBrayne.
Huge support came from the islanders themselves, venues were provided for events and cover from the rain. Local musicians provided entertainment in the evenings.
Cyclists gathered sponsorship for the challenge and donations were given along the way. Overall this event raised around £70,000 for Katie’sTrust.
