David Miller (sister of Sandra, who was on the Hebridean Cycle) was the Club Captain at the Najrani Golf and Country Club, Saudia Arabia for 2012. The Captain is able to nominate a couple of charities who benefit from fundraisers throughout the year. We have just received a cheque for a whopping £3,200!!
Members took part in a number of fundraising events including raffles, golf skill challenges, Captain’s charity green and quizzes. There were also donations from other charitable organisations in town of Tabuk.
We would like to thank all of the golfers at Najrani, David and Liz for this fantastic effort.no comments
It is hard to believe that we are fast approaching our third Annual General Meeting on 3rd December! Agenda has been circulated to all Members. Many thanks to Stark Main Ltd for preparing the annual accounts.no comments
Katie’s Trust was given a tremendous financial boost on Wednesday of last week. Ann went into Careline in Selkirk to collect the money donated at their dress-down day, and was presented with a cheque for £101. And then later in the day we learnt that the Lunch in the White Church, Comrie had raised a whopping £940. There was just enough soup to meet demand, and the baking sold like ‘hot cakes’.
Many thanks to all the employees at Careline; and to Alix, Fiona, Robin, Rory & friends.
Katie’s cousins Alix, Robin & Rory are running a fundraising lunch at the White Church in Comrie on Wednesday 17th October. Soup, homebaking and teas/coffees will be available from 11am to 1pm. If you are in the nighbourhood then why not pop in … you won’t be disappointed.no comments
Friday night saw the return of Sid Griffin and the Coal Porters to their favourite venue – Midlem Village Hall. The place was packed in anticipation of a great evening – and we were not disappointed. There were all the old favourites, some new songs from album to be released in September and an outrageous cover of Paint it Black (Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na…..)!!
There were many familiar faces in the audience from 18 months ago and we used the interval to update everyone on what Katie’s Trust has been doing – **newsletter**
For those of you who missed the gig but might be intrigued who the Coal Porters are then have a look at the website – Coal Porters. And if you want a sample of their music then here is one of our favourites – Closing Time Genius.
Many thanks to Phil & Patricia (who sadly missed the gig), Midlem Hall Committee, the audience and especially the Coal Porters! You helped us raise a fantastic £675!!1 comment
