Report on Ken Laidlaw Sportif 2011

posted in: Events, Fundraising, News

Fifteen cyclists took to the Border roads on Sunday 21st August to raise funds for the Katie
McKerracher Trust as part of the Ken Laidlaw Sportif. There were two routes – 52 miles
and 105 miles – with participants taking between 3 and 7 hours to complete their chosen
route. The fundraisers were kitted out in specially designed cycle shirts, and were given
the honour of leading the event through Hawick Town Centre (see photo). We would like
to thank Hawick Cycle Club for its generosity and for organising such a fantastic event.
We would also like to thank all of the supporters who cheered us on and ran the essential
feed stations.

Photos available here , here and here (many thanks to Ian Bell).

Bombay Bingo

posted in: Events, Fundraising

The night consisted of Bingo and a curry in Kirkhope Hall!  The night was a sell out with 100 people attending who were hungry for both bingo and curry!  The curry was ably cooked by Skip Houston (whom initiated the theme evening) and “Taste of Spice” from Selkirk.  The bingo caller – Skip was ably aided by his assistant Rachael Houston.  The buffet curry was superbly presented by “Taste of Spice” and everyone agreed that the buffet was magnificent.   Ferdous would not take any payment for the food, cooking and delivery  which meant that the total amount raised for the evening was £1,215.  Thank you Skip, Ferdous & Taste of Spice.
