Glasgow to Edinburgh Cycle

posted in: DIPG, Events, Fundraising, News

Last weekend Granny, Grandpa, cousin Cammie and the Baldy Bikers (aka Johnny & Dave) rode the forty seven miles from Glasgow Green to Murrayfield.  It was a great effort and helped raised £1500+ for Katie’s Trust – more than covers the money we paid out last week to help a family go on holiday with their daughter.  Thanks very much to all of you, it was a fantastic achievement.  Here are some photos for the timebeing – the Baldy Bikers might overcome their modesty and post some too!!

DSC01876_small DSC01873_smallStudents and Staff at Borders College served up a superb tea party last Monday.  The weather held out, allowing guests to enjoy an alfresco cuppa in the college quadrangle.  As well as sandwiches and cakes, the students were selling cupcakes and fudge.  Those sales, combined with tickets and raffle, totalled £439.  Ann and I would like to thank everyone involved in making the event so successful- THANKS!

Vintage Tractor Rally hauls in £2,210!

posted in: DIPG, Events, Fundraising, News

Steve Hayden, of Hayden’s Bar, Pomeroy, organises an annual vintage tractor rally on the Sunday of the first May Bank Holiday, with proceeds from entries going to charity.  Steve heard about Katie’s Trust through one of his friends and asked if he could donate the money from the 2013 Rally to the Trust.  The weekend was a great success and raised £2,210, plus a further £15 that came in from the ice-cream van!  Many thanks to Steve, all the tractor drivers and all their supporters.

Fundraising Update

posted in: DIPG, Fundraising, News

We were delighted to receive a cheque for £1,020 from the Caledonian Society of Sheffield.  Ian McMaster was the President for the last year and decided that Katie’s Trust would be one of two charities to benefit from the proceeds of the St. Andrew’s Dinner and the Burns Supper.  The total raised this year was the highest ever – many thanks to all the Scots & Yorkshire folks who delved deep into their pockets.
